Spirulina

Spirulina are free-floating filamentous cyanobacteria characterized by cylindrical, multicellular trichomes in an open left-hand helix. Spirulina occurs naturally in tropical and subtropical lakes with high pH and high concentrations of carbonate and bicarbonate.

Spirulina is the ultimate natural nutritional supplement. It contains the most complete source of nutrients found in any single food. Spirel Spirulina typically contains over 65% protein, more than any other food including meat and fish. Proteins are necessary for maintaining tissues, sustaining growth and making hormones in the body. Spirulina contains the eight essential and 10 other amino acids and a greater concentration of vitamins and nutrients than any other natural food. Just 3 to 10 grams of Spirel Spirulina a day gives impressive amounts of beta carotene, B complex vitamins, Vitamin E, essential trace minerals and gamma linolenic acid (GLA). Spirulina is also a major source of iron and calcium.

Organic foods

Organic foods are produced according to a certain production standards, it means they were grown without the use of conventional pesticides, artificial fertilizers, human waste, or sewage sludge, and that they were processed without ionizing radiation or food additives.

Is organic food 'better'?
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) takes the position that there is not enough scientific evidence to claim that organic food is safer or more nutritious than conventionally produced food. Government ministers have followed suit by describing buying organic food as a ‘lifestyle’ choice. Given that most people don’t eat enough fruit and vegetables, the logic goes, it’s important they are not put off eating more by believing conventional produce isn’t healthy.

Why Should I Care if a Food is Organic?
According to the USDA, organic food production allows farmers to lower input costs, decrease reliance on nonrenewable resources, capture high-value markets and premium prices, and boost farm income. Organic agriculture also has many important environmental benefits:
It promotes sustainability by establishing an ecological balance to prevent soil fertility or pest problems. In the long run, organic farms tend to conserve energy and protect the environment by maintaining ecological harmony.
It enhances biodiversity, or the presence of multiple plant and/or animal species. Having a highly diverse genetic pool becomes useful in the future when beneficial characteristics can be tapped (that is, growing a diverse mix of crops helps to support beneficial organisms that assist in pollination and pest management).
Because organic agriculture utilizes practices such as crop rotations, inter-cropping, symbiotic associations, cover crops and minimum tillage, the length of time that the soil is exposed to erosive forces is decreased, which minimizes nutrient losses and boosts soil productivity.
By not using synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, organic agriculture reduces pollution of groundwater.
Organic agriculture helps to minimize the greenhouse effect and global warming through its ability to sequester carbon in the soil.

Second Hand Smoking "I'd Rather Not Die From Smoking"

The funny thing about second hand smoking is that most smokers doesn't even know that something like second hand smoking exists. It is also referred to as passive smoking.
Second hand smoking is the process by which another person smokes but the toxic smoke is also inhaled and affects those who move along with the active smoker. The sad thing about this is that second hand smoking is just as harmful as active smoking. So the next time you smoke in the company of other people you have to be well aware of the fact that you are not just putting your self in danger but the same amount of danger is being passed on to your loved ones as well; a very strange gift indeed to pass on to your loved ones.

So if not for your self, at least for your loved ones you ought to try and give up the habit. So, though I included the reason of passive smoking at the end of the list, it should be the most important reason for you to stop smoking. Isn’t it a very selfish way of existing without bothering about the safety and well being of others just because you want to indulge in a pleasure of yours?
